To be induced or not to be induced . . .
That is the question. As you can see by my countdown clock, we're getting rather close to D-Day. My official due date is July 27, but my OB thinks that he needs to take his family on a vacation a week before I'm due. He didn't even run it past me for my okay. Go figure! Thus the question of the day. He has offered to induce me on the 17th (his last available day before he leaves) if I want. I am torn because I really would like my doctor to deliver me. Somehow I don't feel as comfortable with someone I don't really know delivering my child and . . ah hem . . . "working" on me. On the other hand, I hear that Pitocin contractions are a lot worse than contractions are when you go on your own. So, this is my questions to all you women out there, are “pit” contractions really that much worse than regular contractions? I know every Mother out there loves to talk about the birth of their children. (If you doubt this fact, just ask a group of women 1 small question about the deliveries of their children and watch in amazement at how they will go on for hours.)Every child has a different story, so I'm giving you full reign to tell me all about it. And, I want to know how it really is.

I have no idea. I've never delivered a baby, but I would imagine that stronger contractions might be worth getting that baby out 10 days sooner. What do I know though?
Okay you said full reign........ Being the induction queen (thats right I said queen not expert) I will give you my thoughts. If the only thing that is your concern is the contractions with the pit I say go for the induction! As soon as they get uncomfortable you can ask for your epidural. I remember watching Whitney in labor before she went to the hospital and I know that when I was in that much pain I was already getting prepped for my epidural. Okay that is my view from a pain stand point. Now for the birth story there just isn't that much excitement explaining to your child how you went to the doc feeling just fine, everything at home is in order, and getting hooked up to a drip and 8 hrs later they were here! Every time I tell McKenna that she just looks at me like "that was supposed to be a story?" Okay this comment is seriously too LONG! Bottom line you and Landon feel it out, pray about it, and talk to the Doc.... I am SO glad its you! 9 months is so long :)
I've experienced both and I loved being induced. I had everything ready, including plans for Aubrey which was very important to me. As for the contractions, I got the epidural before they got as intense as the ones I experienced with Aubrey, so I can't really compare the two. But Haley, didn't you go into labor about two weeks early with Easton? You might even go natually before the induction date! Either way, Good Luck! I can't wait to meet her!
P.s. I love that we have our babies around the same time!
I don't know the difference because I had to use pit. on both of my kids for different reasons. Neither by choice. Anyway, if you are getting an epidural it doesn't really matter and I think the nurses take pitty on you because they are suppose to be harder. So they hurry up the drug doc. From what i am told is they get just as hard as regular but you get there faster and with no ramp up. One minute you don't feel them the next minute there is no question if you feel it. Good luck. I always say induce becuase it has worked out for me and I have heard scary stories about going through other doctors. I am sure you will make a choice that will work for you.
This posting and comments scares the crap out of me. God be with you.
Kirsten,
Sometimes that does happen too! Induction or not :)
ok, that's just wrong.... whose bright idea was it that dads should start going in there?
I want to hear what your the answer to the question is. Induce/or not?
What was the induction decision? When is the baby going to be here?
Hi Haley! I had a dream last night that the baby came...hopefully she comes soon! And the fact that i dreamt about her means i am super anxious to meet my new little niece! YAY! Make sure you call me to let me know the details!
