Christmas 2012

We had WONDERFUL Christmas this year! We were so lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa Stillo and Aunt Jen come and visit (that gets to be a post in and of itself) to make it extra special. This was our first Christmas away from "home" so we got to make the best of it by continuing some of our Christmas traditions with our little family (and of course, G-pa, G-ma, and Aunt Jen). We had some friends over for our traditional Christmas Eve candle-lit dinner and nativity. It made it so fun to have a full house and made it feel like more of a celebration. Christmas Eve really is my favorite holiday. I love the anticipation in the air! It was so fun to have both Easton and Averie excited about leaving treats for Santa and his reindeer. I love the magic that kids bring to Christmas.

Christmas Day was spent playing with toys, skyping with family, watching new movies and having a great time together. As you can see Easton's fave present was his BYU football uniform. Averie loved her "horsey family" and barn and Boston scored with an awesome train table.

With the Army who knows what next Christmas will bring for our family, so I was especially thankful to have Landon there with the kids and I. Pretty positive that I won't be able to listen to "I'll Be Home for Christmas" if Landon's deployed since this year, I got a little melancholy even thinking about being away from my extended family when I heard it.I am so thankful for the Christmas season and the chance that we have to reflect on the birth of our Savior Jesus Chirst!

Averie was explaining the color of her horse and she said that it has gray "clip clops" meaning hooves.
She also called her "high heels" tip taps" because she loves the way they sound when she walks.

After Landon asked Easton why he was such a good kid, Easton matter of factly says "cuz I say my prayers like every night."

After explaining to Easton that we were going to have chips and salsa as PART of our lunch, he says "that would just be wierd to have it on the side of your lunch." No doubt this is Landon's doing.

While listening to Brittney Spears on the radio, Easton said he wants to be a football player or a drummer when he grows up. Then he added "or a back-up dancer."

After Easton hears me say something to Landon about Pharoh, he begins singing "Fiyero, Fiiiiiiyeeeerro" from Wicked.

After the leaving the child care at my boot camp/exersize class, which is in a Catholic church, Averie tells me that someone threw a Book of Mormon at her. Guess we better start doing more family scripture study out of the Bible.

"My mom uses the oven for five seconds with salt and pepper and sauce."

Me: "Averie how do you know you'll like gymnastics better than ballet. You've never done gymnastics."
Averie: "I know, right?"

After seeing a balloon stuck on the cold air return vent, Easton tells Averie that he's making the balloon do that with "the force." He says "I can even do it with my eyes." staring intently at the balloon.

A: "Mom, can we change my name?"
Me: Ummm . . . what to?

While eating gummy worms while driving through Nebraska, Easton says "these Nebraska worms are pretty good."

Trying to get Easton to explain what Moses did, I said "and what he did to the ocean." He said, "Mom it was called the Red Sea!"

While we kneeling down to say family prayer and Easton asked me why we pray. I told him it's so we can feel closer to Heavenly Father to which he replied "Oh yeah, some say that Heaven is far away, but I feel it close around me as I pray."

I was telling Easton that Jimmer won't be playing for BYU anymore.
Easton: "So Jimmer won't be a cougar anymore?"
Me: "No, he's going to be playing in California."
Easton looking concerned: "Is Cosmo still going to be a Cougar?" Me: "Yes, Cosmo will always be a Cougar." Followed by a huge look of relief on Easton's face.

Easton while running out of the door to go to the park: "I call shotgun."
Me: "We're not driving, we're walking."
Easton with a confused look on his face: "No, I call the shotgun!"

While riding in the car, I said something to Landon and the kids like "that's not going to work folks" to which Averie replied "Mom, we not folks!"

While we were at the Dr's office, a nurse who knows Landon and I said to Averie "tell your Daddy hi for me, okay?" to which she replied "hi" right back to her.

After wondering how much Easton is learning in Kindergarten he said to me last night "Mom, do you even KNOW what at title page is?" and this morning he said "Mom, you just made a prediction."
