The Magical Doors

Please help me understand the magic of the doctor’s office doors. One minute, my daughter who has been acting miserable all day and has been screaming for over an hour, magically is just fine after we walk through the doctor’s office doors.

Sure Doc, I know she’s playing peek-a-boo with you and running around the room laughing and singing, but I really think something is wrong. Between bouts of giggles, can you just check to see if she has a sore throat or an ear infection? Do you ever wonder if the doctor believes that this child who is now playing underneath the exam table was minutes ago fa-reaking out?

I told the doctor that I’m going to move into their clinic until I can figure out how to get my doors as magical as theirs. He laughed and thought I was kidding. No, no. I’m totally serious. So, if you need me, I’ll be in exam room 3 at my kids’ pediatrician’s office.

I always hate when that happens. Ross always tells me to call the doctor (be it for the kids or for myself) and I always hesitate in fear that your aforementioned scenario will happen and they will think I am a crazy person. Glad to know I am not alone. And if the room next to you is available, my I will come and join you ;)

I can testify that it happened just as it was written. She did not stop screaming for at least an hour. It was not a little whimper or a whine but a full on WHALE, deep within the lungs! You should have heard her! Well, she is happy as a clam this morning and now I must end to change a stinky diaper. I love you sweetheart and the wonderful mother that you are.

I'll I have to say to that is... AMEN!!! I always feel so bad that I'm frustrated after the appointment too! I am glad that there is nothing seriously wrong, but at the same time can't they find something, ANYTHING so I don't feel so stupid?

SO true! I couldn't have put it as beautifully as you did. Doctors must think we're all crazy!
