Kentuckians!

Well, folks. It's been forever, but I'm trying to pull myself back onto the "blogging grid." I promised lots of people that I would be better about blogging, so this is my attempt to get us updated and hopefully after that, it'll be easier to keep up on it. (who am I kidding, it's never easy, but I will try!)

We're officially Kentuckians! We've been here for almost 3 months and are really enjoying it. The people are very friendly and Landon is enjoying his GI Joe job. We have an amazing ward that has really made us feel welcome from the very first Sunday we attended church. What an amazing blessing it is to have the Gospel in our lives and to have it wherever we go. I don't know know what I would do without my testimony or my membership in the Church!

On a much lighter note, we met our first "classic Kentuckian" the other day at (not surprisingly considering where we were) a used car lot. (I know, I know, we were practically asking for it.) The saleswoman that helped us was as nice and friendly as can be, but she was as toothless as they come!! BTW, I'm taking it as a good sign that it us 3 months to find a classic Kentuckian. In all seriousness, it was a bit of a culture shock at first, but most everyone is super friendly and we're all adjusting pretty well. (Landon said he wished he would've had a camera to capture the look on my face that first day though. It's a lot different from home in too many ways to list. That'll have to be a whole other post.)
We lived in our home for about 3 weeks without any furniture which was quite an adventure. But now as I sit on my comfy couch, it's fun to look at this pictures now and realize we made some great memories. We were so happy to get our stuff and it's amazing how quickly it has felt like home to us. I guess it's not just a nice saying anymore. Home really is wherever we're together.

The first night in our house.

Easton started school a week and a half ago and I can't believe that he's in 2nd grade! (Crazy, I know. Don't these Dept of Defense people know that August is supposed to be a summer month?) He's really liking it and has already made lots of friends. His school only goes up to 3rd grade and he has 17 kids in his class. Between that and all the technology that they've got in their classroom, I can overlook the early start to the school year. Easton starts flag football tomorrow and is so excited. I'm scared to be entering the "taxi mom" stage of motherhood with him, but then again, I always did want to be a "soccer mom." We just need to work on the soccer part of that equation.

What would a post from Fort Knox, KY be without some GI Joe pictures? The first week or so that we were here, Landon's unit had a family day and let all the kids play with the big boy toys. As you can see, the kids had a great time!

Does he look like he's in heaven or what?
GET SOME!!
Just happy to be there!
